ABOUT ME
Ayşe Çiçek, a specialist in ophthalmology and a mother of two children, was born in 1988. She completed her primary, middle, and high school education in the city of Kayseri. In 2005, she ranked 127th in the university entrance exam and was admitted to the English Medicine program at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. She completed her medical degree, ranking fourth with a GPA of 3.81, and the same year she passed the specialization exam in medicine, starting her residency in ophthalmology at Kayseri Education and Research Hospital.
During her residency, between November 2015 and February 2016, she worked in various departments at Istanbul Beyoğlu Eye Training and Research Hospital. In February 2017, shortly after receiving the title of ophthalmology specialist, she passed the written and oral exams organized by the European Board of Ophthalmology in Paris and obtained the Fellowship of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO), which granted her equivalence in Europe. In the same year, she gave birth to her first daughter, Amine Leyla. As a mother of one child, she continued her work in the field of ophthalmology and specialized in pediatric eye diseases and strabismus. From July 2018 to August 2018, she worked for one month at Ankara Zekai Tahir Burak Maternity and Children's Education and Research Hospital in the ROP (retinopathy of prematurity: an eye disease observed in premature infants) unit. From October 2019 to January 2020, she served in the strabismus unit at Ankara Ulucanlar Education and Research Hospital. Additionally, she worked for 2 years in the ROP and strabismus units at Kayseri Education and Research Hospital. In addition to her work within the country, she successfully passed the Visual Sciences, Optics, Refraction and Instruments, and Clinical Ophthalmology exams organized by the International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO), demonstrating her competence internationally. In November 2020, she gave birth to her second daughter, Meryem Sena, and received the title of Associate Professor (Doçent) 15 days later. She has worked at Ankara Dünyagöz Hospital. She conducted extensive research and prepared the section on Excimer Laser used in refractive surgery operations in the book "Laser in Ophthalmology" which is the only Turkish-language resource on the subject.
